Synchronous teaching formats

Are you wondering how you can stream a lecture (or a seminar or consultation) online? Would you like to be able to teach, discuss and communicate live online?

There is an overview of your current options here. In synchronous online teaching, teaching and learning takes place collectively and in real time, for example in a live stream or live chat. This pdf document by Dr. Anja Hawlitschek contains information on how to plan an e-lecture and what you need to take into account.

Requirements: Synchronous online formats require a good internet connection and scalable software systems.

  • The DFNconf portal offers several possibilities for holding conferences or meetings: first of all, AdobeConnect (DFN) enables audio / video conferences, online meetings or individual sessions, in order to work and communicate synchronously. The Pexip communication platform is one of two solutions for holding video and telephone conferences in the DFNconf framework.
  • Zoom Video Communications offers remote conferencing services that combine video conferences, online meetings, chat and mobile collaboration. Zoom also supports video conferences with screen sharing (including playing films with audio) and up to 49 participants per screen. The service is considered to be especially reliable. Please take note of the privacy information in relation to the platform. For secure meetings, you can find an overview here with the 6 most important (and practical) tips.
  • The University Computer Center provides members of Otto von Guericke University with the opportunity to use a video conferencing room in addition to the teaching pools and public laboratories.
  • Our Media Center is available for help in recording lectures and educational films. A limited range of seminars and workshops is also available here; these convey practical basic knowledge on media didactics, media concepts and implementation.
